How to Get Around New Zealand in One Month
Following the exact route in this one-month honeymoon itinerary for New Zealand requires couples to self-drive. We give tips on hiring a vehicle below, as well as additional (and alternative) transport methods to use for travelling one month around New Zealand on your honeymoon or romantic getaway.
- Rental car or campervan – The first tool you’ll need for this honeymoon itinerary is a rental vehicle. Use a rental company that has depots in Christchurch and Auckland, of which there are many. Get started on your research with The Guide to Renting a Car or Campervan in New Zealand.
- Ferries – Not only will you be taking the ferry between the North Island and South Island on this itinerary, but you’ll also take a return ferry to Stewart Island. Get tips on ferry travel in The Ferry Between the North Island and South Island and The Complete Travel Guide to Stewart Island.
- Escorted tours – Alternatively, if you would rather not drive yourselves around New Zealand, escorted bus tours provide an effortless option. However, there are no tours that last 30 days, apart from hop-on hop-off bus tours if you stay longer at some destinations. Check out a range of fully-guided tours on The Best 20+ Days Tours of New Zealand.
