Fabrication Manager – NEW ZEALAND

5+ years’ experience within the Metal Fabrication industry. Previous staff management experience, ideally within the Metal Fabrication industry. Intermediate computer skills and an intermediate understanding of MS Office suite. Advanced understanding of metal fabrication and installation techniques. Intermediate understanding of products offered by MetCon.

Advanced understanding of the Health and Safety requirements of a PCBU Class 1 driver’s license.

In conjunction with the Administrator and when available, interact with both potential and existing customers and suppliers when they enter the office including promptly greeting them, identifying viable job opportunities, answering queries and providing advice to foster positive relationships, and becoming a preferred supplier where possible.

Assist with pricing and quoting potential jobs and agree to completion deadlines ensuring that all relevant information is captured; appropriate contingencies are accounted for; and deadlines are achievable.

Allocate Fabricators to jobs and communicate these in advance while accounting for variables including skill level; previous
experience; machine competency; strengths and weaknesses; and availability, ensuring that jobs are allocated to maximise efficiency and reflect the Fabricators’ individual ability.

Order materials for jobs ensuring that material isn’t already in stock and that existing stock is prioritised; orders make efficient use of the material; sufficient lead time is allowed for; incoming product is promptly stored; and Fabricators are informed when their material has arrived.

Monitor job progression including seeking regular updates from the Fabricators assigned to the job.
